We are Family

Hello. My name is Preston. We are the Hadleys and are a family of the High Country. I grew up in Todd where my parents owned the Todd General Store. These mountains and rivers were my playground. As an adult, after living across the U.S., our family has built a home in the community of Vilas.

 

Professionally, I have earned a degree in Tourism and Hospitality, along with a Bachelors in English/Photography from Appalachian State University. I am also a licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of North Carolina. Finally, I like to include that I'm an official boat "Skipper" in the state of Tennesse, but I'm not sure how that's relevant.

My wife, Brandy, was a Real Estate Broker for many years in the Beech Mountain Community and started the Beech Mountain Peace of Mind Vacation Home Care Service in 2005. Dr. Hadley, also an App State alum, later received her Ph.D. from the University of Tennesse and now serves as a professor at our great Appalachian State University.

My father-in-law, Jim (also a NC Real Estate Broker), works closely with us. He is a wonderful man, and a retired General Contractor, with a joyous sense of humor and a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Our daughter was born in Boone and our son graduated from Watauga High School. Together, we will provide professional care and service for you and your home, while you are away.

Our Mission is to provide Peace of Mind when homeowners are away. We provide local, seasonal or year-round care, with regular onsite inspections. After each visit, the homeowner will receive a digital photo or photos along with a report. Should repairs need done, we can meet scheduled service providers to allow access, then secure the home upon completion. Other services we offer can help with finding cleaners, yard care, grocery shopping, shipping items and more. Our goal at Peace of Mind, is to provide a safe, cared for home with your requested luxuries waiting for your arrival. We'll even turn the heat up and the water on.     Welcome Home!

What Does Home Concierge Mean? It means peace of mind for homeowners while they are away. Our goal is to identify potential problems and irregularities to enable quick and adequate responses. It is our responsibility to prepare your home for a stress-free stay. We also provide additional add-on options that may be helpful or simply comfortable for homeowners and their guests.

Why Would I Need A Home Concierge? Are you going away for a significant period of time and want someone to look after your home? Good News! Having Peace of Mind, a licensed and insured business, watching your home while you're gone, may even lower the cost of your homeowner's insurance. That's enough, right there! However, let's face the facts, anything can happen to a home when the owners are away. Water heaters can bust, bugs could infest, the A/C or heat may stop working. Wind, rain and snow can cause electrical outages, mold and leaks. Simply having Peace of Mind protects your home by detecting minor issues before they become major disasters. Wouldn't you like to know if a window shattered or if there were a leak? Besides, let's not downplay the comfort factor! We will adjust the temperature to your liking, turn on the water, and ignite your pilot lights for your family, or simply your friends, coming to enjoy the holiday. Having your favorite snacks and beverages waiting for your arrival, well, that's pretty fantastic too!

How Many People Will Be In My Home? Usually, two or three people will be present at each visit: myself (Preston Hadley), a NC licensed Real Estate Broker; my father-in-law (James Schene), a retired career contractor and NC licensed Real Estate Broker; and my wife (Dr. Brandy Hadley), a professor at ASU. Our team will fill requests and inspect your home regularly. There will never be anyone else inside your home.

What If There Is A Problem? Luckily, we were there to catch it early! Imagine if no one was. When we see the start of an issue, we will immediately contact you with photos and a list of potential contractors. Whether you select a vendor from the courtesy list or already have one of your own, we can coordinate and meet on your behalf. 

What Is The Value? For an investment starting at $99 a month, qualified individuals will provide monthly inspections and photos of your home. While you are away, we will be visiting and searching for damage and troubling issues before they escalate, potentially saving thousands of dollars. Also, let's not ignore there is a value to having a home conditioned to your family's specifications before your arrival!
